That's the entire job of the Little Lights Quote Card Deck: fifty-two small cards, one hand-picked quote for every week of the year, printed on our starry stationery and sized on purpose to tuck into the frame of a bathroom mirror or lean against a desk lamp.
These aren't fifty-two random "inspirational" lines scraped off a poster. They're the quotes we've been collecting for years for our Quote Library and the weekly email — words from Marcus Aurelius and George Eliot, from proverbs and psalms, from people who earned their sentences the hard way. Hope, courage, gratitude, stillness, kindness: the deck rotates through all five, the way a year does. A few residents of the deck, so you know the company you'd be keeping: "Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year" (Emerson). The practice we suggest is gloriously simple. Every Sunday — perhaps right after reading the email — draw the next card and put it where your eyes will land on Monday morning: the mirror, the monitor, the dashboard. Live with it for a week. Then pass it on or pin it up and draw again. By December you'll have kept fifty-two tiny appointments with your better self, at a cost of about twenty-three cents each.
